Home support is a normal part of what is offered to parents and carers of high level needs patients. It's nothing new and is NEEDED by these people. High level care can take ALL the carers time and home care support is a blessed relief to those who genuinely need it. This applies not only to parents of needs kids but also carers for the elderly and the like
Think about it this way, the taxpayer is being asked to support the carers with home support to enable the patient stay at home. The alternative is for the patient to be in full time institutional care. Imagine what that would cost! A bit of home support is not too much to ask.
No, I'm not a carer myself and don't have special needs kids but I know people who do.
