The problem I see with growing lawn in Melbourne is that during summer we get severe water restrictions and that is the end of your lawn unless you have a big water tank. Sorry I just remembered we now have a desal plant so we will never have water restrictions ever again
but boy are we going to pay for it. Remember we pay for every liter of water that comes through our meter and then we pay another 80% of that for waste water removal but if you put it on your lawn it doesn't go into waste water but you still pay for it
