Hello ODK History Lovers

I had previously written about another enduring theme in the history of lawnmowing ...
'Avoiding Work'. Here I would like to explore another theme ... the borrowing of the
neighbour's lawnmower.

These cartoons are important historically because they capture a certain 'truth' or
zeitgeist of the times. It is humour that captures a sort of stereotypical view about
lawnmowers, or lawnmower ownership (or lack of).

These 'borrowing' cartoons, spanning from the late 1900s to the 1950s, depict
an unspoken observation about mowing the lawn (or grass): you should use your own
lawnmower. Only a certain 'type' would call upon the neighbour for a 'loaner'.

These cartoons play on this theme ... and, on occasion, twist it!
