I presume you are speaking of the 'land roll' clutch which is the self propelled component of the machine, as the cutter clutch has a rubber wheel fixture that runs inside a drum...
Unfortunately, we have no parts list or manual for the Model 40, and, never having disassembled a 'land roll' clutch, can't advise you as to whether it had a cork-lined clutch plate or not.
Hopefully, one of our members will chime in here and give you the answer. wink
