I could hazard a few guesses as to why? ...seems its position only effect performance some what slightly..
by that I mean it seems it would still work just not optimally for the set up
it would probably start in almost any position is my guess
(although I haven't tried it) and so anyone not knowing is liable to throw it in anywhere (and if they are hand assembled umm QC whats that?
so you might have been just unlucky to score one to confuse you)
from looking at parts in the shop, the Vortex uses a different (short?) Decompresser (not sure what that is when its at home)
so I can only guess thats "possibly why" they say " A " position
(and thats for the masters here to comment on cause I got no idea)
I "think"? it was said somewhere that it runs leaner in that position A
Anyway again thats ones for the Gurus here
Good to know its firing thought and wish you many short lawns with it
