Ade Turf Equipment's sharpening machine turns the reel and sharpens it with the usual flat faced spinning grinding wheel moving along just as in the video on this forum. They do mount the whole mower on this machine, but the reel is aligned with respect to the axle, and I am assured that the whole thing keeps this alignment very accurately. Presumably this would be OK provided that the bearings were OK.
The people who welded the cutter bearing housing volunteered, when I was picking it up, that they could weld new blades in place if necessary. I took this with a grain of salt, but this morning I saw Bruce's post (#18301 of 30/7//10) in which he confirms that these blades can be replaced this way. I am still wondering what a replacement reel for a Scott Bonnar 65 would be likely to cost. What are the pros and cons???
