Hey there folks, I have surfaced again and just want to sort out a couple of things to do with Victa flaps and carby topos for the benefit of Garry Bruce and Brett
I found the box containig thew flaps which I said I had at somrime in the past but unfortunately they are not the flaps to work the cables on the elusive model 4 Victa.
The flaps I have are Pt Nos 8-170 and 8-171 and they fit front and rear on the 1960 Sheerline models no 6 and 9. They would also fit the Four Star Model of the same year which of course every body knows was red in colour. The parts list do not appear to show any other part nos for red flaps to match the colour of the Four Star. The parts I have are green. Sorry for anyone who may want the flaps for the model 4 Auto but that is the status quo on that subject.
Now to set things straight with Brett, the thing I promised tyo send him if I found one was the cap off the M odel 4 Auto carby which has the 2 threaded holes for the cable adjusters for front and rear flaps. I have since found and mislaid one of these but will no doubt find it again and I will post it up to you Brett Lawrence . You never know with this Brett fellow///////// He is just as likely to round up the rest of the bits and make up a complete mower.
do recall on seeing one of these Auto model with the flap opewrated cables for the first time what a wacky idea it was, I had had many years experience with motorcycles and cables which would require strict attention with the lubrication thereof to keep them working properly and these 2 little cables down there in all thew dirt and grass juice was just to good to be true. Does ANYBODY ANYWHERE have a spares listfor the model 4 we are talking about?????
Victa has changed hands so many times it is probably no use asking them but you never know do you. I have a very interesiting cutter disc in my box of bits which I will post about onr day, made by Victa with their name staamped all over it and that will do for another time Regards to all Joe Brown
