Hello ODK History Lovers
The Scott Bonnar Model 65 was the last commercial reel mower
design by Scott Bonnar. It presents as a modernised version
of the Model 16 Queen, introduced in about 1950.

The Model 65 was designed and marketed as being “For Contractors,
Municipal Bodies & Government Departments.”

It was a real surprise when I recently found a brochure that said
that the Model 65 took on a new role – a mower for “golf greens,
cricket wickets, bowling greens, tennis courts, and croquet greens,
where a fine playing surface is required.”

In other words, The Model 65 became the replacement for the
Model 17 Supercut! Some Model 65 20” and 24” variants became the …

MODEL 65 “SUPERCUT”!

My best guess is that this role change occurred when SB was part of
New Zealand’s Challenge Corporation. We are talking mid-to-late 1970s.
