I have a Carter 7" woodwork vise and a C10 scrub plane. Carter made very solid tools with heavy iron. Their smoothing and rebate/grooving planes haven't tempted me - they feel quite clunky in the hand.
A Carter engineering vise would be a decent tool I think and definitely worth restoring.
