Villiers being an entirely in-house operation they made everything themselves which sometimes led to smaller threads being somewhat vague in size. As tooling wore it went a little off size. This didn't matter as long as you used genuine Villiers spares as they were equally a trace off size but can give rise to some entertaining moments when you find your freshly made parts are too tight or too sloppy.
