Were you planning to replace the drivers?

It may be worth considering getting the existing drivers re-coned, so long as the voice coils are OK. The rolled cone surrounds tend to disintegrate with age, and modern cone/surround units offer quite an improvement in sound quality, too.

My old speakers were just Technics ones [pretty low-end], so I went for a pair of new VAF Research DC-X G4 speakers [made in Adelaide!], some few years back.

I did order the assemble-it-yourself kit they offered back then tho' - a saving of ~$700 or so [IIRC] for around 1.5 hours of [carefully done] work was a bit of a no-brainer!
