Hello ODK history lovers
News Cuttings was Victa’s official news publication to its dealer network.
Introduced in the late 1950s, it would be no more than a few pages in length.

This Mid 1963 issue is of interest because of two articles: one on
Victa’s place in world-class mower design; and the other about
Victa’s Red Telephone.

In context, this June Issue is three-quarters the way through the
1962-63 season … meaning the focus would not be on lawnmowers;

Page 1 has the obligatory article on the Victa Airtourer, this time touring

Page 2 is devoted to the Red Telephone, A Victa Project whereby the
Victa Telephone Company [VTC] would lease phones [made in Japan] to
public and private enterprises. These were made available in public and
commercial locations [e.g., shopfronts, restaurants, …] and installed and
maintained by the Australian Telecommunications Commission [ATC].

Page 3 presents dealer news – with a feature on Alfred Harrap & Sons
of Launceston, and a mention about Hedley Cole of Devonport, Tasmania.

Internationally, there is a feature on Victa’s expansion into the Malaysian
market. Another article is on improvements to Victa’s Adelaide and
Melbourne Branch offices.

Page 4 follows the usual format: here with Service Guide No 15
[4-stroke Zenith Carby], the somewhat funny Short Cuts and cartoon Victa Wise …
