Thanks guys. Ill look at getting a replacement spring, though I found one in the meantime.

You haven't got the cable too tight have you. I find it works best just on the first notch not the second. It kind of looks like it should be on the second though. Also the inner cable needs to be almost straight where it protrudes at the bottom end. I have had to reshape a few so they work better. As Norm says they work much better if you do his carby mod which gets rid of the choke and makes the cable path much better. Start on full throttle.then.

I don't think the cable is too tight, I had it tightened up at half way so the lever can go full stop/run. When I set to top, it would go fully down. Bottom wouldn't go full top. Ill have a fiddle and see if it makes a difference though.

Cables straight, works properly now, I had the diaphragm around the wrong way. Still runs poorly after a little while of use, then won't start. I have new o-rings coming so i'll do another clean, and replace the o-rings then. I do recall a small brass washer though that sits under the cam. can't remember if i re-installed that, might have to get a couple of spares.
