Gooday People,
A friend dropped off the depicted item to me a few days ago. He didn't know what it was - but thought it might be a mower of some kind. I bought out my Masport Garden Cultivator, (of which I am very happy - lol), and showed him that perhaps it could fit on that. The serial number on the aluminium gearbox was LM 6306 (or thereabouts). The "LM" makes me think it may have been made by Land Master. Has anyone seen this attachment before. Missing a catcher and requires new wooden rollers and a good cleanup. Diameter of tube is exactly the same as the Masport.

Interesting.

Under and over blades.

Whats the drive up in the tube??

Not so sure that would work very well on a masport tiller.

Not sure what Land Master that would fit. Unless they made something similar to the masport tiller.

Gooday All
Rodeobob - it has a square drive.
Have not dis-assembled it yet. Playing it safe with dodgy looking metal.
The 4 bolts that hold the shaft to the gearbox are identical with the Masport.
Will inspect it some more and come back later. I am chasing a Landmaster Tiller to see if it is similar as well. I reckon the "under" blades have been put on later - and they are flat. The other blades are more "lawnmowerish". (This is a technical term I think - lol)

Hi Stationary,
This looks like an interesting piece of kit, it looks fairly small for a mower in the pics....can you give us an idea of its actual size. It looks as if it would be pulled along after a tractor....would you agree with that?
It would be great to restore it. I am doing a bit of research for you, but as yet, to no avail. frown
cheers2

Gooday Deejay,

To answer your question - I think it is a pushed mower and not a dragged one.

Still havent pulled my Masport garden digger to bits to see if the drive is square or not.

Here, finally, are the measurements.....

23" (58cm) long including the drive tube.
14.5" (37cm) wide.
8.25" (21cm) high.
The space where the catcher fits has a hole 14.5" x 6,5". See the slots on top where the catcher attaches.
2.25" (5.5cm) diameter rollers.
15" (78cm) diameter hole for cutter disc underneath.

Trust that these are sufficient for you to get an idea of the size.

The masport has a square drive.

Im tipping its about a 16 inch cut, that goes with 2hp

It would be pushed. hence the rollers.

And theres no doubt in my mind, its freakin cool.

I have seen a similar thing listed up on eBay a while back. I contemplated buying it but decided not too, I think i even put pics up on the forum here.

I concluded, yeah great if you had a collection of old stuff and wanted to add to it or even take out and share. Awesome. But what good would a unit like that be too me when ive got Victa utilites and bigbobs up the waahhhzoo.

A bit like the big landmaster. Its in the old boys shed, yeah if we can sort the Villiers and some clutch issues it will get used again. But theres no way on hells earth that either myself or the old man will ever bolt the sickle mower on the front and actually use it to cut anything. But it might get painted up and laid next to it if it was taken to a show.

It might be fun for 3 feet but it would get old real quick. But back in the day you couldnt buy anything that would mow for a days pay. Well maybe scissors. So you did what you had too with what you had.
