Kirby Document from the early seventies ,almost every year the engineering designers would visit the USA for inspiration.

These are great and important documents.
Sincere thanks - again - for this research.

The reference to a 'mini-skirt' was hilarious.
[I don't think Kirby was referring to mower bases there] grin

The poignant thing, for me, was how AUS looked to the USA
in those days. I know Turner would make their pilgrimage to
the USA for similar inspiration, but their trips were really more
about manufacturing processes.

Certainly, AUS were making the best rotaries in the World
at this time, but they relied on North American engines
to power them.

Only the Western Group could have found these docs.

p.s. I also note that this doc confirms Phelon mags
and Eaton starters were made here by Kirbys.

Yes I think Victa also had mini skirts on their minds when designing the Victa Automatic.

The majority of Eaton starters must have been made here except early on when Victa introduced
the sure start to Australia and imported complete engines from the states.
