I picked these up yesterday from one dumpster as well as a Stihl whipper snipper.
That MTD should be interesting with 22in cut B&S engine.
It has engine cut off lever on handles, not really needed....I think.

Nice finds Speedy

Why the americans need those blade brakes is beyond me. It is to stop the engine inside 3 seconds so the operator cant loose fingers. The other thing about them (beside the bar blade) is 'legally' over there, there is max blade tip speed. That means a 22inch can only legally from the factory spin at something stupid like 2600-2700rpm.

The regulators would probably have a coronary if they saw a victa 2 stroke flat stick spinning around 3600 haha

FS36 is a good find. Be careful you get the choke lever back through its hole properly and don't snap it when you are putting it back together after fuel line replacement (as soon as you take cover off rotochoke, you will get what I mean

Overall great finds - looks like someone couldn't understand the concept that if something doesn't start in 10 pulls, 50-100 more aren't going to do much

Yer Tyler,
Many nuts and bolts on MTD cable, air filter oil change , blade sharpen.....cut off stupid roll rod at back as it jammed when you pulled the mower backward.
I zip tied the stop lever, but couldn't stop it as no contacts cutoff....
Anyway it's a goer and on the market...........................

Hi speedy,
if you have removed the brake then you have to take the kill switch wire from the brake and fit it at the front as they normally are. It can be a bit of a pain because they built in a stop that prevents it from coming back far enough to contact the kill switch striker

A pair of pointy nose pliers quickly sorts out the built in stop.

Or an angle grinder with 1mm cut off wheel.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

I decided to leave dead man lever in operation.....might be a selling point...
Had to make a flap for the side shoot.
But motor is smooth and easy start......
It's ready to go on gumtree
cheers

Hi speedy,
It's like a mini Victa 600 with those set back large wheels except without the torque the belt drive provides.
The 22" cut should be a selling point also.

Got the Lawn Beetle going with carb swap. sharpened blade.
The choke doesn't engage with new carb, but a quick spray with starter gets it going.....
on gumtree now

Hi speedy,
I can't remember the Beetle setup but I think it is the same as all the Chondas, I usually have to bend the lever that lifts to close the choke down so that it closes, hit it down with a hammer and it will work fine. I had to do that on a GXV 160 a couple of days ago, but 90% of Chondas have this problem from factory. Get the choke to close and it will start straight up
